Israel/Palestine, Take II: Lost Cities

from Humble Mumbles by Humble Mumbles

about

A great bundle of hopeful connections. Featuring live readings by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Luc Sante (proxies) and the violence of love/love of violence.

Some movements/ideas/essays we will meet...

Zionism (b. ~1870s) : European movement to found a national home in Palestine for the Jews.

The Longing for Home (immemorial? circumstantial?) : the longing for home.

My Lost City by F. Scott Fitzgerald (1932) : “I wanted a man’s world…” Green lights and girl-muses; a mournful Jazz essay about New York.

My Lost City by Luc Sante (2003) : “New York is a city that will be replaced by another city!” Tumuli and 70s dystopia; another nostalgic essay about New York.

This is the second episode in the Israel/Palestine series, on the romanticism of youth and nationalism.

Music by Erica Rubin and Human Host. Special thanks to Harry Waksberg, Cory Kram and Never Forget Radio.
